CAL LEC 170 Baron/Cook/Riggs - Change is coming!
Baron/Cook/Riggs - Change is coming!
To all Newark-based pilots:
· At the Local Council 170 meeting this past Monday, September 29th, nomination balloting was conducted for our Local Executive Council for the three-year term beginning March 2009. By an overwhelming 7:1 margin over the second place finishers, Jayson Baron, Tara Cook, and Kaye Riggs received the most nominations for Captain, First Officer and Secretary/Treasurer Representative. While these results are unofficial, pending certification by ALPA National, they show clearly that we are the overwhelming choice for your next representational team. Keep in mind that the purpose of this nomination ballot was to choose the two highest vote-getters for each representational position. The actual election for representatives will begin on or about October 15th, with voting remaining open for approximately three weeks.
· During the course of the nominating process, Kaye Riggs has emerged as the candidate for Secretary/Treasurer whose views and fighting spirit is most aligned with the Baron/Cook vision for our Local Council for the next three years. We are pleased to announce our endorsement of Kaye Riggs for Secretary/Treasurer and look forward to working with him throughout the election cycle and beyond.
· We want to thank everyone who participated in the nomination ballot process. Regardless of your viewpoint, the pilots can only benefit when good candidates step up and volunteer to serve. We want to especially thank the many pilots who took the time to vote in what is, arguably, one of the most important elections since the Continental pilots re-unionized, as the representatives you choose will oversee the negotiation and completion of Contract ¢08.
· Now that the Baron/Cook/Riggs team has cleared the first hurdle, we again ask for your vote in the representational election. Since Ballot Point is a relatively new procedure, detailed instructions are available at www.CALALPA.org by navigating to My ALPA/Elections. If you have any difficulty getting your Voter ID or PIN numbers, please call any one of us for help or check out our websites for balloting procedure updates.

wishful thinking
Just because the three of you got the lions share of the vote at an LEC meeting only means that the CalForums gang was out in force. You three are not the overwhelming choice. It means you have a very small faction that is willing to go off the cliff with you. The actual election will prove that point. Good luck!

However this pilot has a huge ego. This pilot is quick to point the finger at the union but never gets involved, never volunteers just criticizes and overall is just a very bitter, angry person.

Thank you for the free plug. I invite all of you to view this video. My son did a great job on it. Since you brought it up, let me explain where this video came from. When I started with Continental, I used to bring a VHS camera with me. I filmed many trips. I have vintage video from the DC10 days. I upgrade to Captain a year and a half ago. My son, as a gesture of respect, went through all my video and pictures to create a video to honor my upgarde to Captain. He showed it to my family on my birthday when I turned 50. I didn't ask him to do this. he did this on his own. My son is very proud of me. As a matter of fact, he is also a pilot. He was praised by the same Jayson Baron who is now saying I have a huge ego. What? I am far from it. i just happen to express what others are thinking. Just recently, in an email to me, Jayson Baron (CAL EWR) asked if he could use these videos as an exhibit in a classroom to show what an airline pilot job is about. I guess it was for a career day or something. I told him he would have to ask my son, who made the video. In a recent phone conversation, Jayson told me that he didn't mean what he said. Wow, that's character all right. I guess this means that Jayson won't show this video. By the way, this video is shown to Embry Riddle students in Florida. I get emails all the time asking about my career and how to become a pilot. Take a look at the comments on you tube. Thanks for the free plug Jayson.
Oh, by the way. I have the right to point my finger at my union any time I want. It is my responsibility as a member in good standing. I am a bitter and angry person when someone like Jayson Baron doesn't follow through with their union commitments for which they are paid for in advance. I am bitter and angry when Jayson Baron wants a sweetheart deal to pay back what he owes. He compared his payback scheme to those of the past. I volunteered 2 and a half years of my free time to help investigate the trip loss scandal. I put my home projects on hold during that time. My wife just about shot me for this. I went to ALPA national 2 times to be heard in person by union officials on thr trip loss scandal. All this with no trip loss paid. Not one red cent! That is the definition of volunteerism. No, Jayson, I have not volunteered for a committee that you can put your finger on. Is this what it takes to earn the coveted label of volunteer? What is your definition of a volunteer anyway? Does this mean I have no right to speak up?

John,
Your video is embarrassing to the many Continental pilots who have seen the video. Yes, I wrote you an e-mail and asked for permission to show at an fictitious school event. I was trying to be nice and stroke your ego. I was trying to work with you, obviously that can't be done. So let everyone else be the judge by viewing the videos. I promise you a they will all be laughing at you, not with you.
Please cease and desist your vile phone calls to me this evening. You have called me four times tonight. I have the caller id, (your number 562 XXX 6051 even works from Berlin) do I need to post the entire number to stop your harassing phone calls? Why do you continue to call me even after I asked you to please not do so and why are you doing so tonight from Berlin Germany? Shouldn't you be resting at 1:15 in the morning over there to fly your return trip home tomorrow?
