Default LEC 170 ELECTION Jeff Nason Withdraws From Campaign due to Falstad/Lombardo Actions

Jeff gave Fritz B permission to post the following on calforums. I am posting on here for those not on CAL Forums to read. I told Jeff tonight in an e-mail that I hold no ill will towards him and his recent actions speak volumes about his character and integrity. I hope to see Jeff step up and volunteer for a key committee position or run again for an LEC position in the future.

Jeff Nason's Campaign Status
Jeff asked me to post these emails...his actions speak volumes about the Falstad/Lombardo team.

Subject: Resignation Letter

Dear Jay,

Please accept this email as my intent to withdraw from the Newark LC 170 Secretary/Treasurer candidacy. It is with regret I tender this resignation but feel it necessary given the latest blastmail written by Vince Scotto.

From the inception of my candidacy I made my viewpoint abundantly clear I was unwilling to engage in a campaign strategy designed to malign or smear other candidates. Not only was Todd Falstead and Bob Lombardo aware of this restriction but Vince Scotto was too. Apparently the strategy has changed.

I am what I am. I was brought up to treat people with dignity and respect. As time went by I found myself in leadership positions which required me to take advantage of peoples' strengths not their weaknesses. It is with these principles in mind that I vehemently opposed even the suggestion of a smear campaign. Their direction has obviously changed. I respect their decision but do not condone it. I am not willing to sacrifice my good name by someone, Vince Scotto, who is obviously not interested in respecting my wishes. As a result, I am unwilling to continue participating in this campaign.

Sincerely,

Jeff Nason

Subject: Latest Blastmail

Hi Jayson,

I wanted to touch base with you about the latest blastmail sent out to the LC 170 membership authored by Vince Scotto. Just so there is no misunderstanding, I had nothing to do with that blastmail; I neither knew it was being written nor did I sanction it. I was, in fact, quite surprised when I received it and even more irritated after reading it.

This blastmail is nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt to smear opposing candidates. I find this strategy to be at best myopic; tearing each other to shreds only makes us weaker against a very formidable company. In addition, the candidates, regardless of whether they are elected, need to conduct themselves in a way that inspires the membership, not in a way that further divides us.

This flawed strategy was actually a point of contention prior to my running for the Secretary/Treasurer position which is what delayed my entry into the race. I was not willing then and I'm not willing now to engage in a smear campaign of any sort.

Unfortunately, my name is plastered all over that letter. I guess I'll have to suck that up. I did, however, call Todd Falstead informing him of my displeasure. I also called Tara Cook explaining my viewpoint. I was unable to reach Kaye Riggs. He needs to put his contact information on the LC 170 phone list; what kind of Sec/Treas is he? LOL.

I hope this letter assuages any ill will you may have felt towards me after reading that letter.

Sincerely,

Jeff Nason
