That would depend on whether it was chapter 7 or 11...

They could get the court to allow them to gut the labor agreements with their "greedy union employees" that are obviously too expensive to pay and they could get the court to agree to pay the General Manager who hates unions and his hand picked flunkies even more because they are "critical" to the survival of the entity...

They could also walk away from the lawsuits they have lost their can's on...and hopefully maintain the ability to get insurance for the organization.

Hey, why not? That's worked for every Major Airline CEO in the past 20 years, why not for ALPA National too?

Andy Horton is getting $20M for bankrupting American!

I smell bonus money!

Lets see, seceteraries making more than 50 seat jet captains and the MSP Field Office manager, but for the fact that she looks like Jennifer Anniston, would not be the manager, making more than pre merger/pre bankrupcy NWA DC-9 Captains. Nothing wrong with that business model.

wipe the slate clean, get rid of the negatives, keep the positives... and the infrastructure, make it attractive to AMR, SWA, UPS pilots, give it a new name, new mission statement, new purpose.... turn demise into an opportunity....

It's called seniority and it is the same thing we fight for in our careers, so let us not go down the Frank Lorenzo rabbit hole about what F/A's are worth..."you shouldn't make enough to own a home" and lump staff with many years of dedicated service in that boat. The fact that they make what they do is a function of them having a good union and negotiating a good contract. ALPA has for years refused to stand up for pilot contracts, preferring to say, "this is the best you're gonna get, so sign it or we'll cut off your NC and MEC funding until you do"...been there, seen it first hand. Too many times.

In my view it all started when Duffy refused to stand up to Liddy Dole over pee testing. Instead of saying we just have to accept it, if he'd had a set and said, "pee in a mason jar and mail it to her"...we'd have been seen as a union with some teeth. When he didn't, everyone in DC and boardrooms around the country realized ALPA was all bluff and pilots have paid the price since then.

What they need to do is call for a nationwide SOS, wait till they get sued, and then declare bankruptcy. Airlines do it. Why can't unions?

+1 Probably should terminate all of their employees' pensions too. They (ALPA) have an excellent track record in allowing that to happen. Then should hire a whole new slew of employees on a B scale wage. But we can't cancel Moak's salary or his pension. He is the "CEO" after all. He had excellent practice in turning his back on those he was had a duty to represent. Karma, baby.
