The Rat
|
I hate the rat. It's too ..."lowest common denominator."
Does it help our image or further our goals? I'll gladly march... but I won't stand by the rat. |
As a former committee chairman at the NWA-MEC I see this as a PR disaster in the making. Why would you allow any association, good or bad to be made with an animal that mostly feeds on the remains of the dead and spreads disease?
When ALPA aligned it's self with the AFL-CIO, it lost all credibility and nearly all of its effectiveness. |
Our ALPA group got the rat to show up, but ours had big money bags in its paws which, to me, was a better statement.
Word was that the rat was booked pretty far in advance and reservations for its appearance were required. We loved the rat and it seemed to get the message out to the public clearly and effectively. Despite its cartoonish appearance, the rat added an air of pre-planning and commitment to our events not to mention the visual impact and attention draw it generated. 8 |

You're referring to Pinnacle aren't you? Yeah that was real effective. Effective at displaying to whoever bothered to notice that pilots are mostly a group of uneducated hicks desperately seeking raises for obsolete jobs.
Remind me again how that new contract worked out? 8 years to get it and 6 months to lose it? I was with another group of professional pilots. The uneducated hicks you are referring to are the ones who lurk on the message boards and ridicule airline pilots about the battles we fight to strengthen our profession. 8 |
