Cathay pacific Canadian Pilot Union

The AOA Canada, the Union representing the Cathay Pacific Canadian pilots, has recently filed a Grievance with Cathay Pacific. What the Union is challenging is that they (Canadians) should be able to bid for positions in the U.S.

AOAC demands that their pilots be able to bid and work in the U.S. contrary to the companies policy and standing practice.
Currently, company policy is that a Cathay pilot must possess the right to live and work in a country in order to be based there. AOAC has taken the position that they just need the right to work, NOT live in the U.S.

I find it appalling that this union is trying to attempt to force Cathay Pacific into allowing its members to work in the U.S. where clearly Cathay Pacific U.S. based pilots will be disadvantaged. It is bad enough for U.S pilots having to battle Management, ME3, Norwegian, ETC. but to now have a UNION come after U.S. Pilot Jobs is troubling.

Equally troubling, AOAC is currently seeking an affiliation with or recently has become affiliated with ALPA.
I have written the representatives of ALPA and IFALPA to express my concern with their behavior and I am hoping ALPA will frown upon it and intervene in such a way that AOAC will step back and reconsider their position.

If anyone can help move this up the chain of command or has suggestions on who to contact it would be much appreciated.

Cheers Scut
