Dues to political parties

Is there a short answer to the question: Can a union member prevent their union from sending said member's dues to one of the political parties?

Thanks

No need. Federal law already prohibits this for private-sector employees.

Already been mentioned, but you may voluntarily contribute to your Union's PAC. Dues money is specifically prohibited from political contributions.

It amazes me how many people don't know that.

All true, but it doesn't stop (anti union) politicians from distorting the truth and saying otherwise. Also plenty of anti union pilots continue to spout falsehoods about dues money going to politics.
