Sick Leave Audit

Anybody have any issues with your sick leave balance? Ever since they removed it from my pay advice I have not been able to track it regularly. I know you can get it from Skynet, which I did recently, but the balance seemed low. It could be right but to me it seemed low.

I use the Beta version of pay, and it shows...seems to accrue normally.

My biggest issue is with the rate at which it accrues.

THIS!
But we'll get them next time.

For those who are young and think that they don't need to worry about SL, keep in mind that everyone is one fall (skiing accident) away from needing it!
As you get older, it will be a back or knee operation that takes you out for a period of time...
Followed by the heart issue as you get closer to 60-65.

Sick Leave NEEDS to be addressed in any future talks. Be it a full contract, or another extension~

Productive trips absolutely murders a 5 hour per month sick bank.

And a higher trip rig, duty rig, and M6D will force the company to make more productive trips.

I completely agree. Unfortunately this sentiment doesn't seem to be shared with a lot of guys I fly with.

And Rapid re-accrual is laughable.

This is why I have zero confidence that the rate will ever change. Unless of course, it's offered in exchange for some other vestigial (decent) part of the contract during the next recession.

In 2005 I was out for the better part of a year with a spine injury. Throw in a flu or a sinus problem occasionally and I'm just now getting back up to 200 hours. Miss one 4 day trip and you are set back 4 months. The accrual rate is ridiculous. If you ever do get injured or seriously sick it's almost impossible to rebuild your sick list balance.
