Random in coach of course. In that "algorithm" (I'm guessing there was also a hat or lucky number involved) the conditionals certainly covered inconvenience of the most respected customers.

They were at ORD...flight was ORD-SDF.

Once this passenger decided to refuse, especially to law enforcement, all bets are off. Doesn't help that EVERYTHING is videotaped, but if the agent was following protocols, how should things be handled if still they couldn't get volunteers for a seat for $2000, or say $6000, the agent was prob told $800 is the limit and beyond that to deny boarding.
Yea the term "deny boarding" should really be "denied transport".
$1350 is the max allowable for denied boarding IAW CFR & Contract of Carriage.

Yes, it's an old rule: "The first time you taxi at ORD, you will make a wrong turn at the Wedge."

This is the passenger AFTER being dragged off, and managed to get back on the aircraft.
/\ Yykes!

What would this guy have done if the flight was canceled?
Where is he now? Still in airport jail?

Takes 6 hours to drive from ORD TO SDF. Limo anyone? One way rental?

I'm led to believe that 3 other people sanely got up, left the plane, collected their checks and went to a comped hotel room. Was "I got to get home" guy on their flight the next day?

If I was in the news behaving this way I'd loose my job. Could have been handled better by both sides but this guy has a screw loose.

Hypothetical:
Anesthesiologist: Now just breath normally.
You: Don't I know you?
Anesthesiologist: Yeah I made national news for having a melt down because I got kicked off a flight.
You: Wait, wha....Zzzzzzzzzzz
Anesthesiologist: Sweet dreams.

Why couldn't one of the pilots have taken the jumpseat? I used to do that all the time to get an extra passenger on

I didn't think reading was all that hard but evidently it is. I'm not a moderator. I'm proud to be a Seattle area left wing liberal. Thanks. I called Fox News and told them to do a segment on the difference between "thevagabond" and "vagabond." Maybe then you'll understand. I understand how difficult thinking is for those on the alt-right.
