Assuming EWR is still junior?
Still expecting 737 for new hires? Are you equipment locked for any duration? Also, I know it's not listed on this site, but just double checking. Is LGA an option? Thanks in advance. |

If you don't get NY in class you will most likely get it before you are done with training. LGA is part of the EWR base. Trips that start and end in LGA can be bid for in the monthly biding. You are seat locked for 2 years unless you are going up in pay. EX: 737 -> 320 2 years, 756 -> 737/320 2 years, 737/320 -> 756 as soon as you have the seniority.
Thank you. |
Just started class 2 week ago , couldn't even get the 737 , went more senior than expected . Got Airbus EWR which is the base I wanted , minus going to LGA . Way harder commute for me , 737 less trips out of there compared to A320.
Way more growth on the west in recent new hire class |
You are also seat locked unless you went up in pay. If, after two years, you move laterally 737->320 then you would be locked on the 320 for two years. A 777 CA that bids 737 FO would be a seat locked 737 FO for 2 years. He could not immediately bid upward, but once his seat lock expired he could become an upward bidding seat tourist. This is my understanding of the contract anyway.

I.e. 737 to Bus, two year lock. All you can do is bid other bases and up to Captain on same airplane. 8-D-2 |

Accurate. Lateral or downward bid is a 2 year hard bid freeze.

8-D-2 it's a hard freeze except to jump the trash bag.

Thought a bid to higher paying aircraft also covers the "up" portion of the freeze. For example EWR 320 to SFO 757 would release you from it?
