Thanks. It's been a complete mess. Brought on by the inability for anyone to make timely decisions. The entire free world outside of Willis Tower was screaming how catastrophic and long lasting this would be. How does UAL handle it? By posting we're running a full schedule. So instead of just canceling things in advance they wait until the last second causing even more chaos for employees and travelers alike.
Embarrassing....... |

Completely agree, flew in last night and it was total chaos. Willis was more concerned about our new uniforms that we're getting in 4 years than responsibly running an operation....... a full schedule into a hurricane are you kidding me.....embarrassing to say the least.

Many Houston employees are going to loose their home, cars, etc.
One of our sons living in Houston has a foot of water in his house. We live far west of Houston near the Colorado river. The forecast river level will put the flood waters in our house Tuesday. There will be hundreds in our town that flood before us. We have never had water close. This is approaching the flood of 1913. |
If the IAH is closed how is UAL 2761 enroute from ORD right now?
|
I left IAH this morning. The official word was "departures-only, and only humanitarian or military arrivals."
So...maybe humanitarian? Unless they changed the rules. |

With the change in storm forecast and river flooding, this may likely eclipse the economic losses for Katrina.
Already there are thousands of homes in Houston and surrounding counties flooded. The storm is now forecast to reverse course, return to the gulf and land again in Galveston, passing over Houston northward. The Brazos river and Colorado river will not crest until Tuesday and may "join up". The rain now is not forecast to end until next Friday. In some areas the NWS is forecasting flooding above the 500 year mark. |
