I believe that was a reference to the amendable date of the contract.

Army

I used Emerald Coast. I was extremely happy. Nothing in the interview caught me off guard. I also used the online prep instead of the in person. My understanding is the in person prep is even better.

It seems almost all the company’s leave applicants happy.

Good luck

There's no easy answer; based on CURRENT conditions, you'll be better off financially at United. While the hourly wage for the 737 is comparable, the 16% contribution to the retirement is significant. Hypothetically, you're looking at > $20k /year getting invested and compounding over the length of your career. With the significantly longer forecast upgrade time at Southwest, those financial differences will be even more exaggerated.

I was never interested in flying for Southwest. You fly in the right seat of a 737, then you upgrade, and then you fly in the left seat of a 737. Lather, rinse, repeat. Don't get me wrong, it's a reasonably stable job that pays well, but you could say the same thing about being an electrical engineer. I like the variety that a career at United, American, or Delta provides over a 30 year span. Narrow body, Wide body, Domestic, International. It's nice to have options over a long career.

Just my two cents.

I took and passed the Hogan with this advice:

1. Stay away from absolutes. "I never get frustrated at work." Of course you get frustrated at work, everyone does. So the right answer is "sometimes" I get frustrated at work. Stay away from "always", "never"... that kind of thing.

2. Be consistent. If you're sometimes frustrated at work on Wed., be sometimes frustrated on Thurs. too.

3. That beer and a little quiet sounds good too.

I did Cage and Emerald Coast. Cage was more helpful although both were great.

Hogan advice (just what this thread needs)

"I always" or "I never" questions should probably be answered with a NO. The test doesn't ask about high treason or murder, so you probably have done whatever they're asking about.

I read every question carefully and then answered honestly. I think thats the only way to be consistent. I was worried that a few answers weren't consistent IE

Do you enjoy the challenge of your job? YES
Do you want to be indepently wealthy? YES
Do you enjoy fiction and/or plays/movies YES
Would you like to be a successful actor NO
Would you like to be a successful writer YES

All true, so, thats what I answered

IMO:
I'd wager that the test is aiming to weed out less 10% of applicants. If you think you're values/behavior are in the general range of normal, just be honest. As it is, it weeds out more than 10% because people are not being completely truthful. Rumor has it that the base levels values/answers were formulated by anonymously testing upper level managers who had nothing to lose, therefore were quite honest. Food for thought

1. Line Select vs PBS
2. SWA has better Vacation
3. United provides crew meals, parking, uniforms, dry cleaning
4. (I am a commuter) Long call reserve at United vs perpetual 2 hour shortcall at SWA
5. Better hotels at United
6. more minimum days off at SWA, but you work more hours during your workdays at SWA.

Pay rates are about the same on the 737, but no wide body so essentially you are capped...plus I am looking at about 10-14 year upgrade...

This is a much more difficult decision than I thought. If anybody has made the jump please message me.
Check your PM. I left SWA in 2013 for UAL

If you're ONLY talking about the W2 on a 73, SW's B-fund, although less than ours, isn't too shabby.
