SAN to LAX or SFO commute?

Anyone doing it? If so, how is it? I count 6 flights per day from SAN to LAX on mainline metal and a bunch more on other airlines... although, with a quick glance it looks like the loads are high.

Are many folks driving it instead? I imagine LA area traffic can be a challenge in general... how bad does it get between LAX and SAN?

Thanks for any insights.

I flew for a regional that operated SD-LA. LOTS of commuters... mostly because SD is just awesome. Usually had a pilot in the jump. If you don't mind the extra time in the car, I would just drive.

If you will be on reserve, DON'T DO IT. If you will be senior, it can be not too bad, if you bid very early morning trips, or trips leaving on the weekend. Depending on your fleet and seniority, you might have trips leaving out of Ontario or Orange County. These trips go VERY senior.

Senior on the Captain side but not for the FO's. I routinely fly with year two guys who get all SNA lines with the exception of maybe one LAX.
