I took a 737 because this is a Boeing airline, figured later conversions would be easier. Plus I知 from Seattle, so I値l never fly that French piece of sh*t. That said, I値l take the jumpseat on a 320 anyday....

Every base has 737s. But they fly way more redeyes than the bus. Coin flip.

That痴 pretty extreme but the beauty of being here is y誕ll u can fly the bus for a few years and switch to a different fleet when you get bored.

There's always more to the story.

I flew the Bus for a couple of years and the only thing which pushed me to bid off was a huge pay cut (BK).

How is the bus any easier and less interesting to fly? That makes no sense. Both planes are nearly identical when it comes to how we earn our living. FMC,s A/T, A/P, etc etc etc. You program boxes and push buttons and follow SOP to make both of them go. Push two more and it's an airplane again. Most of the guys who hate the bus have either;

1) Never flown one and have only seen a video of one chopping down trees
2) Didn't pay enough attention while in school and/ or had a lousy IOE guy or
3) Only have 100 hours in it.

You'll note that I said "most".

The only reason I'd bid the 73 over the Bus is if it offered a huge differential in QOL due to better schedules and a bump in pay. But, those would both have to be significant gains. To me, the 73 is just that uncomfortable for long hauls. I hated it IAD-ORD-DSM. Now I'd have to hate it IAD-SFO, SEA, LAX, etc.

The transition from Airbus to Boeing and Boeing to Airbus are both easy and non-issues when you go in for a long course.

Has a lot to do with which base you choose . I am very junior on the bus in EWR . Very small base here , about 100 guys . Compared to 500 ish on the 737 . I VERY commonly sit reserve short call as a commuter with no chance of flying cause we have zero open time . Where as my classmates in the 737 are flying tons with many comutibale trips and way better QOL for a reserve . We have about 160 airbus compared to what 350 ish 737 variants . So that to me is a massive part of the puzzle .

Having flown the Airbus at a prior gig I love the airplane , but it kinda is the red headed step child here at United . With very commonly layovers in crappy cities . Unlike the 737 you get crappy cities but many more good ones too.

To each his on , I will prob bid the turd 738 when my time comes , unless within a year we get a lot more airbuses or announce some.

I知 on OE now for the Bus. I left the 756 after 4 1/2 years for better seniority. I知 having a blast. The airplane is fantastic and I知 glad I made the jump. If you feel like having a giant control column between your legs makes you a better pilot...we値l then you win. Enjoy the guppy and all the treasures it has to offer you. I値l pass, thank you.

Definitely is extreme. Those guys that start the day with the "too easy" attitude and end the day writing an FSAP after a colossal screw up.
