UAL 1175 SFO-HNL Engine Fail
 
Pics and video showing most of the forward cowl missing from #2 engine on the 777....fair amount of vibration, too. Happened today.

Very easily could have been me. Sounds like the crew did a good job. I just flew that plane last week to Guam. Lots of water out there....:D

Sounds like the engine didn't fail, just lost its cowling.

Ah, the engine didn't "fail" the cowling departed the engine and it continued to develop thrust.

Video on KHON shows one fan blade missing and another with half the blade missing. Sure looks like the engine did fail.

The engine was not shut down and it was running when taxiing to the gate... But hey, don't let facts get in the way..
