More used A-319s coming

Well, according to the Airbus Fleet newsletter, 20 more 319s from EasyJet and 7 more 319s from China Southern coming in 2019. Always subject to change, of course. But I'll take the good news.

Good news! The EasyJet birds will certainly be easier to get online.....

Newer birds are good but they’ll get here just in time for the retirements of the earliest 320s.

The same update suggests an overall “flat” fleet size. (Subject to constant revision, I suspect.)

This would be interesting as EasyJet's 319's have dual OW emergency exits.

Finally announced publicly on today's earnings report, but quite a while until they hit the line. I seem to remember this rumor first floating out there last Septemberish.

"Entered into an agreement to purchase 20 used Airbus A319 aircraft with expected delivery dates scheduled in 2020 and 2021."

That’s different from what the latest monthly Airbus Fleet Newsletter states, but either way it’s at least 18 months before we see any of these birds.

They seem to be finding some deals on good used planes. How long does it take from the time we take delivery until it enters revenue service? Basically interested in the actual turnaround time, not when they say that they’ll be online. It has to be an extensive maintenance inspection and paperwork drill.

Based on the UAL fleet website, it appears to take two to three months from the time they show up on property til in revenue service. Nothing official, just an observation from the website. Although as a current Bus driver, I have heard through the grapevine that MTC has had to do more work than originally planned, as the Chinese performed some "unauthorized" work on these planes. 🙄
