Yikes. My wife just asked me about this, I hadn't even heard of it. Bummer for us. Since I'm a newbie I'll ask the dumb question - I realize mainline will accept responsibility for this because they have to, otherwise it's a PR disaster. However, is there anything they can do to save face or is it a lost cause at this point?

Don't sweat it. This will go away quickly. This isn't as bad as dragging a customer off a flight or having an animal die on one of our flights - and those events had no material impact on United.

Relax ... We have a new Senior VP of Communications ... I'm sure he will be all over this.

In all honesty a stiff drink helps on Mesa, Commutair, and Trans States flights.

I bet it will last longer than the coverage about a passenger getting sucked out of a window.

But not nearly as long as the coverage of a drunk Flight Attendant sucking off a passenger.

I'll be shocked if this is still in the 'news' cycle after the weekend. This is slow news day material.

Why do we keep farming this stuff out when we are more than capable of tarnishing the brand in house.

Wait until they catch the ramp supervisor who keeps pooping on the Delta baggage carousels at EWR!

That might not hurt business.

The last time you spent a night in a Hilton or maybe Sheraton Hotel did you check and see who actually owned the hotel? No you did not, it was a Hilton or what ever brand name hung on the wall.

It's the same with United, the customer could care less who owns and operates the airplanes and crews, its United Airlines.

Def: not without reguard..

While you could care less, the amount of caring less might be close to not caring less and up to the interpretation of the reader/listener to interperet. Like irreguardless it does not imply much reguard or little. Just not that you have no reguard

Coming from a T1D dad of a daughter you’re an ass.....why don’t you try and understand a disease before you comment about it!

People who seek offense often find it.

She failed the breathalyzer test so don’t think that excuse will work...

Not reported anywhere official but rumor has it she blew a .22

That might very well be true in as far as the memory fades quickly. What doesn't fade is the feeling the press portrays of an airline as the one we love to hate. Justified or not, there's a lot of history behind that feeling.

When times are good the material impact is minimal. When discussions of cash burn rates and shrinking to profitability ensue, the material impact might be greater than you think.

Well, the only thing we have control over is making sure we don't show up drunk and we don't bend metal. Beyond that, I stopped worrying about things I have no control over.

Lesson learned 15 years ago.
