NYC base ?
Can someone please explains how our 2.5 hour to show on reserve works for LGA and EWR! I live in NJ and can make EWR in an 1:40 but realistically its 3 hours for LGA. So how do you sit reserve for EWR/LGA at the sometime it seems impossible! You would have to be sitting on the GWB to make it with the time allotted! Somebody must have figured this out!

You can only sit Field standby at the main airport. |

The call out time is only for the main airport (EWR, LAX, SFO, IAD). The call out time for the satellites is within a reasonable amount of time. You can also get princess parking paid for if called out to the satellites in order to speed up the show.
You can only sit Field standby at the main airport. There’s an LOA that recently came out that talks about sitting FSB at satellite airports. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

FNG’s... Read the f’in contract. A lot of money and effort went into creating it and it governs your entire life. Think maybe you should know what’s in it to avoid stupid questions like “should I be sitting on the GWB on reserve?” |
The sad part, it’s not just new guys

Lack of class!

If your gonna make an attempt at cursing at least get that right! Allot of effort went in to creating shortcuts and they should govern your entire forum life! |
Cheers!
Thank you masterofpuppets! I appreciate you reply!

For most of us the UPA or UAL don’t govern our entire lives. This is just what we do for income and everything else is what matters and governs our life decisions. Most of us have a pretty good understanding of what’s in the contract but don’t care about every little detail. I’m not going to dry clean shirts rather than throw them in the wash, expense meals that I seldom eat, etc. It’s just jot worth spending $5 effort to get $2.50 out of the company. The original post just asked a simple question. No need to sound like a bitter old man or even worse the shriveled piece of his anatomy.

You don’t dry clean your uniforms? Fascinating. You must look like a real pro walking thru the terminal.

Do your shirts come out of the washer and drier ironed?

good grief... what’s next to argue about? Shining your own shoes....having “perma-shine” shoes, or paying someone to do it?
|
|
The “iron-y” (pun intended) is you could pretty much buy a new one of those cheap M and H shirts after every use for what a lot of dry cleaners charge to clean them.
I generally do my own because, believe it or not, I can do a better job cleaning the collar with some “Shout”, some bleach, and a little elbow grease than most of the dry cleaners do. It seems that most of the time they leave at least a little brown residue... |

Anyway, this sure has drifted from a NYC base thread and I’m just as guilty for playing along. |

You have a set time for EWR. Everything else is reasonable. They mean it. ie if you live 2 hrs from EWR and it take 2.5 more from that point to LGA normally and there is construction then you are OK if you can’t get there for 5 hrs. Also your normal report time allows for exceptions due to traffic as well. Hope that helps. |
I’m in the same boat, except on the opposite side of the Hudson. 30 miles east of JFK, can make it to LGA in 45-60 min, 90 with traffic. EWR is 1.5-2.5hrs depending on traffic. Waiting on a class date. Seems I should hope for the bus?

I for one, like to welcome our new additions to the seniority list in a completely different fashion than you apparently. Especially when they're asking a valid question and trying to gain knowledge. Fortunately for him/her, some responses have been very helpful and beneficial. excluding yours. |
