I'm not so sure that there will definitely be a 787 DEN base.
Summer schedule looks like 4 flights using the 787: LHR FRA NRT and IAD. IAD has a 787 Base and the rest of the cities can be staffed with W pairings. It just depends on the commitment United is willing to make to the routes being full year and that airplane sticking on those routes. Right now, LHR is seasonal and could probably be served using a 763. NRT could go 777 like HNL. A lot of options for UA fleet utilization. If they decide to stick with the 787 in Denver, you might see something. I wouldn't take this announcement to the bank though. |

Can a 763 do LHR out of DEN? Not guessing it has the performance in the summer.

LHR full time and a third destination is my guess. Double or nothing by the end of 2018?
*you must be 63 years old to be considered for the position :D |
For an FO, 64.9 to hold Cpt (reserve)

767 can barely do CDG in the summer from SFO. DEN might be tricky.
Just extend Rwy 8 another 10,000'. Not like there's anything out there.:D |

For new hires today, any updates on how long to get DEN after hire? How long would a junior guy/gal be on reserve in DEN before getting a line?
Now, that was on the last big bid to finish the staffing for the summer of 2019 and included the opening of the DEN 787 domicile. So, that had some pretty big movement in Denver. With the airline growing a net 31 aircraft in 2019, I would figure that the similar bid next winter (for the summer of 2020) will likely allow very junior folks to get to Den. Ironically, moons ago, I got "forced" into DEN as a new hire on the 727 Panel. Of course, I was able to trade that assignment with somebody in the class ahead of me (before I finished my 1st week of indoc). Maybe by the Winter/Spring of 2020 we will be back sending new hires there. |

I believe the last vacancy bid that closed allowed folks with under a year to get a bid to both 737 and A320. The ones to the A320 were junior enough to where they might even be activated into the assignment with less than a year on the property.
