COLA

Am i missing something here?

We haven't hired much over the last 24 months, its peak summer travel and the company is offering COLA on most fleets?

This really has me scratching my head. I would have thought it was all hands on deck at least trough the summer travel.

Does anyone have any insight? Is there something I'm missing?

June is peak travel, August starts wind down. While there may be COLA on most fleets, there are 50+ categories/BES with zero COLA, including almost the entirety of narrowbody. No need to panic.

There are still over staffed bases and flying shifts. This airline is huge when you compare the small amount of COLAs offered to 12500 pilots its a drop in the bucket.

They’re offering full month COLA for IAH 737 CA and there are currently 6 add pay trips in our open time. It’s been add pay on most days this month.

Guess their is a huge wind down coming in AUG.

The sooner you find the path which allows you to waste less time trying figuring this place out (and/or trying to fix it) the sooner you will achieve your inner Dude. Over the long run, managerial cranial sleuthing won't amount to squat. But it will elevate your BP and angst.

Show up. Color. Don't be a dick. Go home.

Easy.

Wait, I have to color? Do I need to stay between the lines?

Solid lines only if you can't deflect. Dotted lines lines are optional.

You’re not allowed to color because last time you colored the sky purple and it looked stupid!

United’s long range planning committee meets in the Delta executive suite. Delta suspended hiring so we have to match that somehow.

Not to be rude, but what is the point of this post? Are you upset there are COLAs? I think they should have to offer a few in every base every month. It creates more jobs, allows pilots to pursue their dreams, take care of their families, etc. I'd love to take a month off one day when I am financially able to...

This is the fallback from bikini team oil boy.

They are required to offer COLA I believe, but not required to actually approve any minimum number, so they can post it but deny all request based on staffing. Happens every summer.

They're not offering COLA on my current BES nor are they offering COLA on my next BES.

I looked at the list again after reading this post and it's only a handful of BESs. 10 BESs are being offered COLA for the entire airline. That's not much.
