Most qualified indeed.

Our hiring practices have gone straight to hell.

I’d imagine that pipeline is gonna close off indefinitely. I’m hearing around TK that there has been a lot of new hire failures recently.....

I don’t blame the people coming through this program. I would think most understand this opportunity and work hard in training. However our training program is not designed for someone who doesn’t have experience outside of piston CFI work. It’s not a knock on them, just the facts.... That’s also not saying that it can’t work, as some have made it through....Regional airline programs work with these experience levels all the time, but having been through a regional training program (although 8 years ago) the training was outstanding, and you were expected to work hard, but it was a longer footprint and much more spoon fed than what we have at UAL.... UAL is great about working with people who struggle in training if they are working hard and have a good attitude. We will work hard to get pilots through, however at some point if you can’t cut it, it would be a disservice to our other pilots to push them through.

Maybe someone else can correct me, but I believe the average time for the group was around 10k hours. Told we were the top 2% of the existing apps.
Still patiently (sort of) waiting. No contact since my survey.

The average civilian new hire has 6 to 7 thousand hours but they are looking at everything and it is competitive. Sloppy app, expired medical/passport on app, failures, no letters of rec, been at x regional for a decade with no union work or no work at improving your airline, ... after looking at every persons situation that has wanted my help I have found pretty significant reasons that they were overlooking for not getting the call. There are usually a handful of lower time individuals in every class that pull down the average but even with low TT military guys the average flight time was still over 5500hrs. The competition is stiff.

Does that TT statistic include CPP’s as well, or is that for strictly OTS hires?

And your hearing this in your sleep.

Define a failure.
1. Additional training
2. A PV,MV, OR LOE bust?
3. An FRP?(if you don’t know what this is then this further supports
My point this is all rumor.

Those TT averages were ballpark numbers from the last few years of hiring. Every year they have presented the previous years data and it changes very little. CPP is in there now but the percentages being pulled from those airlines has stayed pretty steady even without a CPP. 50/50 mil vs civilian and expressjet and Skywest are usually the top two biggest regionals sending pilots. You can get hired below the averages but you need to play their game their way. It sucks and wears you down but the job is worth it.

These are the guys and gals, (plus our military friends), who deserve to be interviewed and hired here. Best of luck with training and welcome aboard !!
