This would makes sense. That’s probably why it won’t happen. They are more likely to yank 25 700’s from one regional and then add these airplanes to a different regional. Perhaps they will add them to a regional that doesn’t even have E-175’s. Meanwhile, they can all underbid each other until the winner (loser) is declared.

Ignorant statement from a pilot I suspect never worked at a regional when ALPA allowed whipsaws to occur. Maybe ALPA should have mandated that only ALPA regional carriers can fly for mainline.

I believe the standing policy “the captain owns the cockpit jumpseat” should be maintained. Not whoever owns the plane gets to decide who rides on it.

Totally agree. However, there are matrices in place that, barring exceptional circumstances, are followed by the Captain. There is absolutely no reason that a UAL pilot on a UAL owned aircraft on a UAL route should sit behind a pilot for a regional that is not serving the route.

Since most of these planes are actually owned by Wells Fargo, then maybe Wells Fargo employees should get priority by that logic.

They should get priority over United pilots. Provided of course that Wells Fargo operates its own airline and then gives its flying to another bank to operate under Wells Fargo name while flying Wells Fargo routes.
