MIN Reserve Coverage
I believe the MIN levels for reserve have gone up in EWR/756. September/October were easy months to trade or drop last year. Just looking at first 2 weeks of MIN levels in November..and they seem to be higher then last year...Kirby effect??

I feel like it’s harder to get a reserve day swap now with the pool display. Before I never really got push back on swapping and now it’s “oh I’m sorry that won’t work.”

Bottom line, company has the hammer on approving RSV schedule modifications. Call back after shift change and try again. Lee |
Good thing we gave up conflict bidding for the 50 hour drop minimum going away.
Winning... |

Winning... It’s not just about doing straight drops. The company will always control min res level unless we can change that in section 6 negotiations. So yeah it was a HUGE win for a majority of the pilot group vs a small give for the very small minority. |
I agree it’s a win howver , if there is no coverage what’s the point ? I tried to drop ALL my trips for next month knowing that most likely not all would actually go away . I figured maybe 2 . Nope , nothing dropped .
And they are mostly week day trips |

It’s a huge win. I can’t tell you how many times I tried to pick up a trip someone wanted to drop but couldn’t because CrewCompanion said it wasn’t legal for the other guy to drop due to min hours. On my fleet there are always senior guys looking to drop day trips and fly low time. It also greatly affects wide body guys. Many fleets wouldn’t even be able to trade because of the way IT set up the trades.

So yeah it was a HUGE win for a majority of the pilot group vs a small give for the very small minority. I'm not sure what fleet you're on, but here's a perspective from a narrow body guy. The ability to drop below 50hrs is a great QOL Improvement for the entire pilot group. With that being said, now that we can see the pool display the company has put the numbers at 0 basically everyday so straight drops are impossible. Before, when we couldn't see the pool, straight drops worked a majority of the time during non-peak flying season. The situation you refer to, being able to pick up another pilots trip that drops them below 50 is great when it works for the both of you. It's net 0 for the company and both of you are happy. The problem I see, in which you refer to it being a "HUGE" win for the majority of the pilot group, is the fact you already have to have the days off to pick up another pilots trip. Maybe it's just in ORD, but most of our lines are built to 13-14 days off and 80-85 hours. So what happens is nothing can be dropped due to coverage and none of your trips will be picked up because no one has the time off to do it. I would argue that the "majority" of the pilot group would like to do straight drops and the "minority" are the ones picking up other people's trips. |
Don’t wanna fly 50 hours? Retire
It’s the contract that was voted on. Wanna change it? Did you know we are in contract negotiations? That would be the venue for change. |

Some day over the long span of your career, you may have an outside event which will make you appreciate the ability to drop down to 50 hours. And best of all, you won't have to retire in order to do so. There's a lot of crap in this contract that I don't like and they were the reasons that voted no on it. Should I retire as well? If the union can improve our contract, I'm all for it. Even if its a paragraph that I may never use. |
Full-month COLAs for 19 positions in January.

Unfortunately, we just gave up 3-days transfer days (every 18 months) and conflict bidding for this. None of which was presented for a vote!

Sometimes we need to know both the devil and the details to find the devil in the details. Clearly, we didn't negotiate anything worthwhile and it appears we actually gave up something and got nothing in return. OOPS! |

We could challenge the legality of this. Can't negotiate something that changes the pay and benefits in a significant manner without a pilot vote. CBL issue. We could take it to the DoL.
I used my 3 transfer days when I was a new hire. No problem. How often do YOU change domiciles that you need more than 3 days every 18 months? Because I assure you, out of the 12000+ pilots on property those affected by this issue are far fewer than say, satellite bases. Or even getting intercoms on guppies. You're not even the 1%. You're the .1%. Nothing worthwhile for you? I don't even know what conflict bidding is. Or was. I see that dang "C75 TTL F+NF < MINIMUM - This error checks both pilot's calendars" message probably every time I try to trip trade. My pay is not affected by this in any negative way. What is significant to you? Because I'm gonna go way out on a limb and guess its not significant to anything like 5% of the group. Ha ha ha. just kidding. I don't really care. Its nice to get rid of that 50 hour nonsense. The other stuff doesn't affect me at all. But you guys are getting all frothy over a nothing sandwich. Take a breath. |
When does the LOA go into effect then? I tried to pick up and still see this message...
"C75 TTL F+NF < MINIMUM - This error checks both pilot's calendars" Explanation: indicates that the trade will reduce a Pilot’s F + NF hours below 50 for a bid period. This rule checks BOTH pilots’s calendars, so the trade wouldn’t cause your hours to drop below 50 then it is likely that it would cause an issue with the other pilots calendar. I have no other conflicts for this trip I’m trying to pick up and it’s almost two weeks out. No other issues I can see. There are others senior to me who desire it also, but aren’t getting it either. Hmmm, did I miss an implementation date for when the no dropping below 50 hrs in a bid period goes away? All arguments aside regarding whether or not we should have voted, If our union gave up something for us to get us something when do the trip trade computer programs delete this restriction and give it back?

Thanks saw the LOA but missed the 120 to implement.

The LOA is on the ALPA site. It was signed 10/31. Company has 120 days to implement.

I recall you getting very upset on another thread about my lack of concern over an issue you felt was extremely important. I had viewed the issue you were upset about as a 'nothing sandwich'. |
