Sorry. Did you just say RJ training was too hard for mil guys?

(I really, really, really don't want to derail this thread with "who is better: MIL or Civ flyers" argument ad nauseum.)

121 training, even at the regional level, should not be too hard for anyone who is qualified to fly here. It is not a walk in the park. And even an experienced pilot with a type rating in another make of aircraft will have to do some hard work to be successful. But not more so than they would at United.

The quality of instruction and program at United DENTK is vastly superior to the training at SOME regionals. Many use outsourced instructors and do most groundschool via iPad.

Even so, OP referenced SPIRIT which is not a regional but a major.

is den still the most senior base or is it iah, ord now?
Cle is most senior. Then den, iah, and ord. It does change from bid to bid though.

Its dropped steadily down to this for the time I’ve followed it. I would assume the opening of the DEN 787 base in time for this bid helped hold DEN 737/320 under a year seniority for 19-05.
thanks for the responses.

wow, 9 months?! Wasn't it 7 years to be the plug in denver not too long ago?

I was in a 121 training department. I have first hand experience dealing with getting people through training.

It isn't too hard for military pilots but it is a very different world that is paced very differently. Some have trouble transitioning to this type of flying. Just because your mr military super pilot or some guy with 10 type ratings doesn't mean your immune to a training failure. A lot of people can fly just fine but the stress of being away from home for 6 weeks catches them off guard or they just have a bad day on the wrong day. Also regional or lcc training departments run the gamut from good to horrible. By going to a LCC with a difficult training department and never having seen this type of flying they could very easily put something on their file in OKC.

Pretty sure this isn’t an issue with “mr military” pilot...

Maybe the stress of ONLY being gone for 6 weeks (and being able to go home on weekends!)
