Short Call out Short term parking

Short Call out Short term parking
Heads up everybody. There is a new policy at the crew desk. The contract specifically covers a reserve making a short call out for a trip. They can get short term parking expense authorized if it will help reduce the trip departure time or delay.
This is not specifically addressed as a line holder or for a senior man call. SFO has quite a few ferry flights that are built last minute, and often are sold as senior man because they don't have the foresight to build the trip so a short call reserve can cover it.
The short term parking at SFO for a local can save as much as 30 minutes--the walk in from employee parking, and in the past has been offered to get whatever flight out on time. If I get it or not, really doesn't make a difference to me. But another case of stepping over dollars to save a penny. Even 1 pax misconnect will pay for short term parking.
Now, the crew desk has a new policy that line holders are not eligible for the short term parking expense because it is not specifically covered under the contract. But....you say, this is now established past practice, is it not?
New policy. So....you think you're going to get a contract on time at the end of Jan?? Same old business as usual.....

I was given Short Term parking one time. I didn't time it, but I cannot see how it would save more than about 12 minutes... let's just call it 15 minutes to be conservative.
I'm not saying 15 minutes isn't valuable... it is. But unless we are talking about different parking areas, how can you save 30 minutes? I'm just not seeing it.
Is the drive time to Short Term significantly shorter than the employee lot? It was 2 years ago when I did it, so maybe I don't recall how quick it is to get to the Short Term lot.

My personal experience for the past 2 years is that it takes me ~19 minutes to go from the employee lot to Flight Ops (including a bathroom stop in the International Terminal).

Either way, UAL doesn't have the IT or leadership granularity to make real-time decisions on misconnects so they will generally close the door 10 minutes before push. Making it to ORD 10 minutes early will probably save hundreds of $$$ if there is a single tight connection.

Closing the door 10 early comes to mind, followed by late bag loading in the alley- with ensuing slot time miss.
