Pilots did it a few years back after SLI/ISL was done. FAs got contract not too long ago so it’s their turn.

Kind of like charm school/pep rally for FA's. Many will scoff at it, but I don't think it's a bad idea. Many FA's don't know really know much about how the big machine works. If it helps our bottom line and improves the operation and customer experience, I'm all for it. It's already way more than previous regimes did in terms of giving a **** about the product.

But does something like this actually have an impact?

Hard to measure, but I think yes. It’s been “that’s the way LUAL did it” or “that’s the way LCAL did it” since 2010. Putting everyone through a common experience might start a “that’s the way we do it.” Pilots went through it and got 5 hours of pay then bellyached through a dozen FM/FOM revisions. There’s nothing that unifies Pilots like whining.

The comment section for the backstage plan is more entertaining than reading the uniform comments. They seem pretty upset about wasting their time and company money. They’re pretty consistent in saying that the money being spent on uniforms and a pep rally could be better spent providing the frontline employees the tools to provide a quality product such as fixing the frequently broken WiFi and Direct TV, not reducing staffing on international flights, etc. I’d have to agree with them.

At the Captain charm school I attended a couple of months ago, Oscar spoke to us and touched on this Flight Attendant program for 2019.

Basically what I got from him was it’s time to stop holding on to the respective legacy issues and go forward as a single group. And to set the standards of what they want the Flight Attendants to follow with respect to customer service. To get everyone on the same page.

Will it work? Who knows but at least the company is giving it a shot.

Glue some silver string on the sleeves and give Oscar a purple tie, and he’s wearing the new pilot uniform!

Yeah, if it is well executed it might ultimately be worth the $$$/effort in the long run. A little shared experience goes a long ways in building some esprit de corps. Gotta wonder if some variation on the theme will be up for us next though.

Is this the class where the FA's are taught it's a good thing to remove staffing from their flights?

Note the PLUM colored hankey…...

Not sure if two days in ORD is worth the fuss.....

“Our customer service sucks! We need to get premium travelers! We need to beat Delta!”

Also:
“WHY IS THE COMPANY SPENDING MONEY ON TRAINING FAs!!”

Lol

Maybe....finally..... the legacy CAL F/A’s will understand that they don’t get a vote as to when I eat my crew meal. If they get this figured out during this pep rally, it’s money well spent! Lol.

Sorry, but a pep rally doesn't determine when the cockpit is fed, the Captain in conjunction with the FO does. It's a shame when guys relinquish Captain's authority to the cabin.

I think they need it..for some reason most of them do not understand our service sucks.

I just flew with extended family..bought tickets..8 of us..service was subpar both ways...sad. Our customers deserve better..we're not Spirit, but some of our FAs belong there...

True, however pre-chumming with a bag of quality chocolates will pay off. :D

In the post McCoy, Abbot, and Starley era former CAL Captains are now figuring this out. 25 years of brain-washing is hard to erase. This is what happens when you build a culture that gives deference to in-flight over flight ops.
