Guam for New Hires

Long time lurker. Anyone know about Guam for new hires? From the last crew resource update it sounded like it wasn’t being “assigned” to new hires but a buddy of mine starts Tuesday and he said it is being “offered”. Anyone got intel? Or is it everyone gets their first choice.....from what’s left 😏

The company has been reasonable and offering GUM to new hires when there are slots, but so far has not forced anybody there. Or at least, not lately. It's win-win for the company and the pilots to only send guys to GUM that want to be in GUM.

It's been a reasonable accommodation, IMHO, but I presume the policy could change instantly if the staffing became critical.

If you want GUM and it is not offered just ask for it and see if they will accommodate. As Cadet said it is beneficial for the company to put people in GUM who want to be in GUM.

They may say no but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Stick to the vacancy bid process. If they neen a pilot in Guam, there is a process in place.

Never said not to. But we have active unfilled right now so ask if it’s not on the drop.

But from which vacancy bid? Those unfilled slots expire at some point. If the slots are still open...then certainly they should include them as an option.

FYI, there were 2 GUM vacancies offered to the 2/4 REDOC class (no takers) and 2/5 new hire class. Word is they were selected early in the bidding process.

It’s a great deal if you are able to do it...young and single, someone should jump all over this.
