I appreciate when a Captain reels me back in and says we’ll go when it’s safe. Now when I find myself reviewing the logbook, notams, ETOPS checklist, and loading the box all at the same time it’s a trigger to stop. I’ve yet to find the Captain who has any aversion to slowing down and going when the time is right. They’ll tell the CSRs, put the delay on me, I don’t care. I can’t rememeber a time any Captain has had any different approach, and it’s definitely something I’ll take with me if/when I take the upgrade.
I have had the same experience. The most important lesson the salty old Captains taught me was we don't rush or hurry because it leads to mistakes. That is why an hour for domestic and 1.5 hours for global is important.

"The more rushed we are, the more we need to slow down."

We leave when we leave.

Says the Captain who is oblivious to their FO's long list of duties. "Checklist!"

The OP of this thread probably has an agenda in mind by bringing up this 45 minute thing. I don't know what it is, but I know this, it can't be about safety because that's our number one job no matter what the contract says.

Of course the intent may be the fact we are now past our amendable date and by pushing the limits to get the job done within 45 minutes may be not worth all the effort, again safety is NEVER compromised EVER!

I'll put it another more direct way; why should anyone go out of their way to make things happen safely, but at an above normal pace? Management was given "45" minutes (metaphorically) and yet they could not complete a contract on time with the most central employee group.

Maybe that's what the OP was really trying to get at and not trying to find out how you all run your cockpits in a safe manner.

You all decide.

I love the Mr Magoo types who leave their hotel room exactly at van time, have to stop at the front desk for a coffee and paper or to complain, confuse the van driver by telling him his destination and not knowing a flight number while his FO is sitting in the correct van, and then argue with the van driver over where kcm/security is and being "late." Just flew with a guy who complained about everything and was just a walking cluster everywhere he went. "I am going to pdr this... This is unacceptable." The guy could make the easiest process into an ordeal with his constant level of confusion and lack of tact. 45 min is about right and our van times have usually been sorted with plenty of trial and error. That guy needs about 1:15 because he is special but we can't cater to the <1%. He Will be rushed no matter how long he has.

Let me guess.......he wears his uniform pants and shoes to happy hour, leaves as soon as the free garbage food ends, and splurges on himself at the Outback. Close?

Nope Cap I will see you at scheduled van time. Never rush and if it goes out late it goes out late. If that happens enough by enough crews the times will change.
That may already be happening. At long layovers some of those pickup times are pretty generous.
