Accurate Background Screening question

I had 2 misdemeanor convictions over 25 years ago which were both expunged and of course I disclosed all on airlineapps/addendum. The Accurate background form asks in the personal section, under Criminal:

Have you ever been convicted of, plead guilty, no contest or nolo contendere, to a misdemeanor or felony? *

* Do not report a record of any conviction that has been sealed, expunged, statutorily eradicated, annulled, impounded, erased, dismissed, dismissed under a first offender’s law, pardoned by the Governor or which state law allows you to lawfully deny as set forth below. You must review the state law information below before answering. You are also not required to disclose violations, infractions, or summary offenses.

it says NOT to report if expunged! I feel like its better to report and have them not find anything, rather than the opposite! Especially, after I already disclosed it!

Thoughts?

Thx

If they really were expunged and the application says not to list expunged, I'd suggest, um, following the directions?

(That said, I do know of problems with pilots that thought they were expunged but they really were not.)

Accurate Background Screening question

That’s what I’m worried about! Besides I already disclosed it in the app so I feel like better safe than sorry! Rather disclose and have them find nothing!

If it says you don’t have to report something, don’t shoot yourself in the foot.

What's the point of your post?! You want us to make you feel better? You already disclosed it. If you had followed the application instructions, you were NOT suppose to do so. When i was hired, if you didn't follow the app instructions, you risked not getting hired since you couldn't follow a simple rule. Put it past you.

Visit the jurisdiction(s) as appropriate to obtain your record(s). Another option is to invest a couple of $$$$ seeking advice of an attorney.

Call Angie marshal from Caige Consulting . She does lots of prep stuff esp for United . Have used her for a few dif airlines . Worked both cases . She deals directly with issues like this and how to correctly explain them online and to another during an interview. Esp on the HR side of things which in many cases are the ones needing pleasing more than the accompanying pilot interviewing you .

You could always run your own FBI background check and see what comes up. You basically have to get finger prints done at your local police station. They can take a few weeks to come back, but wouldn’t hurt to see what an airline check will be looking for as well.

And, since you’ve already disclosed things in your app that maybe you didn’t need to, it might look odd not disclosing them now, as it might appear as though you aren’t being consistent or trying to withhold something. Obviously the best scenario would have been to follow the directions as asked, but that ship has sailed. Now that you’ve sorta laid your cards on the table, probably best to leave them on the table and let your “hand” speak for itself.

Just my .02 cents.

Good luck!

Have you done this? So does the local law do the actual check or just a surrogate for the fingers prints and you still have to go through the FBI website? Just ordered Cheryl Cage Reporting Clear. I've got a couple citations that fall under misdemeanor but it's been 15 and years or more I can't even begin to remember the dates but I'd like to be as accurate as possible.

I did do it just to make sure my background didn’t have something weird in it. Whatever comes back is more than likely what an airline background check will bring back as well. You get the fingerprints done by a local law enforcement office, then you mail them off to the fbi.
