This guy obviously wasn't here when this all went down OR is a kool-aid drinking stooge.
He probably has no idea or understanding of why we receive an ACARS msg when a delay has been assigned to the fight deck. A direct result of this BS injunction.

Off topic, but, man, that paint scheme reminds me of our old livery.

One post 4,000 views and counting. Wonder how many UAL pilots researched the issue now, and how many pilots are reading Flying the Line? I bet more than one which is what you get mentoring on the line.
I believe in "planting seeds". You may think my methods are crazy, but there is a purpose, and I think it worked. Also, try reading the comments on the UAL forum.
If asking questions and learning about the past is cause for discipline then we are in big trouble. Obviously a large number of current employees know nothing about how the company can react, and MAYBE asking a question online will educate them about an important topic.
Not sure what "mahogany row" implies. Can u explain.
Again, I think the anonymity of the internet is it's biggest foible (if the internet can be said to have such) so I simply disagree besides which I have posted my name on here many times before so there was no anonymity to start. In addition, I asked a question with the intent of getting others to investigate the issue. I'm not advocating in favor of such behavior. In fact, you could consider my post and this thread as a cautionary tale of what lengths a corporation will take during negotiations.
All in all I think the virulent response I get is proof of the effectiveness of the media and the subject, but I recognize that many simply see me as crazy.
Bottom line: We have a company that is almost half new hires and a quarter ex-CAL, all of whom did not and do not have the benefit of the UAL-ALPA strong union mentorship that I received and which I believe is important to have. Perhaps by asking difficult questions and pointing at tough topics, the new UAL pilots will take the time to read and/or ask questions and the fact is that today the internet affords folks a far greater reach than ever before . . . sometimes for the better . . . sometimes for the worse. Hopefully, this thread has gotten some folks to ask questions and pay attention. I think it has.

Unbelievable! My mentoring came from Captains who cared about the profession. They either engaged in constructive conversation or more importantly led by example. TheIr concern was with those who followed them. We didn't need some anonymous public forum to learn. It was the best time of my career and I'm forever indebted.
Your disagreement with Mako doesn't surprise me. He's a pilots pilot and an all around outstanding person.
So go ahead with your edumacational campaign Sunvox. It's trivial but I'm sure mahogany row agrees with you.

Joe, you have a history of questionable headwork on these and other forums, but this might take the cake.
To answer your question, there is no history of ALPA illegal sickouts at UAL. I'm sure that will be the case in the future as well. Our pilot group and MEC are smarter than that.
To suggest otherwise, especially when we are headed into what from all appearances will be a period of contentious Section 6 negotiations, is counterproductive.
And then to doxx yourself? Enjoy being on the receiving end of the company's social media policy or worse.
Please keep your crackpot theories to yourself. Or if you can't, at least limit them to your "can't fail" stock tips.

Yet you registered with the screen name Joe Peck, but that was taken..... so you had to go with Sunvox? Something doesn’t add up here.

Too funny! There's a magazine called PROFESSIONAL PILOT that has been virulently anti-union for longer than I have been flying. Must just be a coincidence. They used to write about (and fawn over) Clay Lacey the SUPER SCAB every other month. You must know Murray Smith!
I often wonder why guys who hate the idea of organized labor work so hard to become highly paid airline pilots, considering that their high pay and standard of living is a direct result of being unionized. Hell of a conundrum!
And, I guess you're not a full-time line puke.

This post is even more ironic because the owner of the cover story company would shut the place down if the pilots ever unionized. The relationship with the pilot group is pretty good overall, but the owner is definitely anti-union.

Why would the post be ironic and why would the company shut down just because the owner is anti-union? Is Connie Kalitta pro-union?

Maybe not ironic, but perhaps more coincidental. You are posting about a magazine and a poster being anti-union, and the owner on the cover of that magazine is highly anti-union. He is the single share owner of the company and would rather shut the company down than let his workforce organize.

Just curious, what's the point of dredging up this ancient history? Who cares about the alleged illegal sick out? How is it relevant for us today in Feb. 2019?

A very good lesson everyone needs to remember, the courts are not labor friendly. We are very limited in what we can do in regards to labor actions, and it will now be a long process with Kirby being the bump in the road.
