Either in its entirety, or a segmented part.
Doesn’t matter, it’s more a personality test/how does one handle being asked what can be an uncomfortable question, etc.

Correct. They wanted to see how I handled going from the top dog in high school to struggling first semester in college. That’s why they asked about the Fs. It was easy to explain especially since I had managed to bring my grades up my last 3 years and go on to a successful military flying career. Plus it had been over 20 years since that had happened. It might be tougher to explain if it was last year...

Why did this thread become 14 pages long?
It’s really basic, unless one has an “in” one has to play by the rules and the rules say a college degree is part of the filtering process of being selected.
Now it doesn’t say you have to have an engineering degree, be Cum Laude, or be a member of the Mensa group (that would probably get you passed over). Just get a degree and prove you can complete an extensive time consuming process.
Can we end this thread now?

How important is a degree in an aviation related field? If I had a degree in say, Public Administration, would that still be acceptable or worth anything in the eyes of the legacy airlines for eligibility purposes?
I’m considering doing an online B.A. program starting next year. Looking at applying with the airlines in a few years when I retire and have several thousand hours.

The airlines generally don't care about the specific major, as long as you have one.
As you consider your degree options, verify that your online program is accredited by a recognized accreditation agency. Some airlines are more particular about this than others, but there's enough legitimate options available that one can avoid the marginal ones.

Talk to a recruiter from down south zip code airline, and it's really not that simple. And then it spreads down all sorts of complex things that go into their human eyeball scoring of an app.
