India Routes
What is the current status of our two B-777 India trips?
Is the FAA still telling air carriers to avoid Iranian airspace? How does this effect earnings/bottom line? Any other carriers affected by FAA order to avoid Iranian airspace? Has the Dept. of State said anything recently? -asking because my google search doesn't yield any current information. |

The FAA order only affects US airlines and since no other US airline flies to India, UAL is the only one affected as far as I know. Hard to say on profitability, those planes have been repurposed in the domestic market helping to cover the MaX debacle. So maybe neutral? And due to international rules, they can’t change aircraft in a international market without approval. So a 777-200 route can’t just become a 777-300 route at United’s whim. |

Those windows are covered with correlated metal. I assume they are running the train IFR. 🤪

This is helping the ME3 as they can(and are) connecting India to the West through their hubs.

Southern Air flys BAH-HKG so they have to route a bit farther south. Atlas also does some Middle East to Asia flying so they also have to avoid the area. Probably not a big deal when you balance the overflight fees versus the longer flight times. FedEx used to go to India, not sure if they still do. And UPS goes to India but I seem to recall them coming down through the -stans from Europe.
