Reserve Trip Freezing

I've been reviewing open time, as many do, in my BES and came up with an observation. I suspect some reserves are under the misunderstanding that they have to freeze an assigned trip. There are 8 open trips today and all of them are frozen. I find it hard to believe all 8 reserves find the assigned trip so desirable that they freeze it. I understand that consolidation may require a trip to be frozen and certainly a desirable trip should be frozen, or maybe you're trying to break guarantee or need a landing. But if you live local and would rather stay home, you don't have to freeze the trip! Maybe someone will pick it up from you. My last stint on reserve I didn't freeze a desirable trip (forgot to) and by the time I determined I wanted to fly the trip, it was gone. Just putting this out there...

My experience has been that if the schedulers get a pilot on the phone to give the assignment...the schedulers will freeze the trip without the pilots knowledge.
