Search for the "PTC MPG PAY Calculator" Excel spreadsheet in the eLibrary at ual.alpa.org

Plug in your info for the month via the pull-down boxes and it will give you the info you are looking for.

Generally speaking, if you want maximum days off MPG will drive your strategy. The calculator will show you how many hours you need to work for a legal PBS award as well as how many hours you might work for "free" if you bid for more than that.

Thanks...

No one has ever showed me "how to bid" and I have figured out what I do know on my own. There is a ton I obviously do not know.

Showing my ignorance, why can't you bid without the min/max times? I didn't know they were something I needed to know when bidding.

Depends on the fleet. Some WB’s the min/max determines the trip mix to max days off/qol.

That was probably someone who picks trips.

Instead of bidding for the attributes of the trips you want, and don't want, you pick particular trips on particular days and create big groups that build specific lines. Works fine if you have the seniority to hold just trips. The problem is if you don't have the credit range you don't know if the lines you are trying to build are legal.

FWIW, I've never bid this way. I have bid groups that preference the type of line (commutable), the type of trips (no red-eyes and few days with more than two legs), and preferred layovers. Unless I have something special going on during the month, I don't have to modify my bid groups at all from month to month. I just copy them forward.

Thank you!

No idea. It's happened before. Last time, bidding opened before the advertised window like it did yesterday, and the bid sheet was posted the next day. I just checked again, and it's not out yet. Might be a good question for ALPA scheduling committee. I don't know if this is a change, or just slow posting it.

Dave,

I had PDR'd this same question back in June. Here's the response I got:

It will be published before the UPA official opening at 1700ct on the 6th.
So, it will still get posted, but not necessarily before the required time. Both you and I were looking for it before 1700ct on the 6th of the month.

Thanks, pretty much the same answer I got.
