Not smart thinking.........are you potentially willing to give up hundreds of thousands of dollars of career earnings for this one “event” ? Even worse, willing to be furloughed for this one time event ?

Take the first class possible.........if you need a day or two off for an important event planned or unplanned it can be worked out after you get in the door.

I recommend you share your important life event very early on in training. The UPA covers life events and time off and you should have the time off required.....this assumes it’s a actual life event and not just a drinking weekend with your buddies. Good luck and welcome.

Thanks for all the replies. My apologies for not framing the question properly and not replying back sooner.

I got the CJO on 11/14.

No specific information about class date hasn't been provided, except to expect an early 2020 class. I am guessing Jan/Feb.

The letter states it is valid for 12 months.

But my reason for the original post was to understand the class date acceptance process. Training takes 7-9 weeks and can have long breaks in between. I have an important event in May. So wanted to check if I could request a class date after May, incase a class date isn't offered by March? I understand that seniority is important, but I would like to plan things better. Therefore wanted to know how CJO and training dates work, when taking the first available date doesn't work out for some reason.

Don’t. Do. That.

How soon did they drug test you and do a background check?

Haven't done that yet or been told to get it done.

Once you accept a class, the company gives you about 2 weeks to get your drug test, accomplish background check paperwork and some other stuff done before Day 1 of BI.

Also, I wouldn’t anticipate any long breaks in training as you stated as a concern. Things have been moving along pretty quickly from what I’ve heard. You might expect a short break before OE but other than that they push you through.
