after 9/11 they let new hires go during Indoc with only a days notice... “acts of god” waive the required pre-notification provisions of the UPA.

Regarding health insurance, I’ve heard a rumor after the 90-day company benefit ends, historically the union has paid for COBRA. How much of the premium might be paid and for how long?

When Continental furloughed after 9/11 an assessment from everyone working paid the medical insurance for furloughees until they were recalled, I think UAL did as well. If it comes to that, I fully expect it to work that way again. I will be one of the ones shouting the loudest if it doesn't, one less thing for a guy/girl with young kids to worry about.

Why file for unemployment? There are plenty of jobs around, maybe not flying, but anyone who wants can find work.

Businesses are open, and hiring continues. And the country is not shutting down. Take the blinders off and look around.

See, what happens is that people quit going to things like restaurants, theme parks, stores, malls, airports and so forth. And that has massive effects not only on those industries, but all the support and logistical chains that are behind them. The aviation sector isn’t the only one hitting pause on hiring and growth while hoping to survive.

But head down and and pick up some applications, fill them out and let us know what the response is.

That's just fear mongering. Right now there are more jobs than people to fill them. Yea, you may have to work in a warehouse or outside in construction, but it's a job and an income. Just because your sector of industry will take a hit doesn't mean everything else will.

But keep crying chicken little.
