I have mixed feelings about being kept around until September 30 just doing busy work so I can be furloughed.
There are some flying jobs out there right now, especially as a dual rated pilot. By September they will probably be filled.

from a dbl furloughed pilot... if you can find a flying/non flying job you like and think your at risk... jump on it ASAP... all companies would be happy to provide an unpaid LOA... good jobs will be gone by fall.

I agree. Starting to look. I’m toward the bottom of the list. This is where I want to be and hope I retire here, but...
I remember 9/11. Those furloughed right away found jobs. Those furloughed six months later... no luck.

if you find a job, take the long term cola until if/when you are furloughed. Check your email from the MEC tonight, new LOA...

Not like Americans (not good) but you can certainly leave on your own terms.

^^^This. I have a sibling who is a lawyer. Graduated class of 2008 and had a job offer to work at a mid-sized law firm. The firm decided to lay off all junior associates with less than 5 years at the firm in August 2008 and my sibling had just started. Didn't work in the legal field again in a paid position until 2013, and their law school classmates were all working volunteer or minimum wage jobs for years after graduating because of the last recession. The only professional, well paid, educated jobs that are truly recession-proof are nurses and doctors.

I sure as hell wouldn’t want to be a nurse or doctor right now.

Somehow my wife manages to actually enjoy it, and her job is a lot more secure than mine right now.

Chatted with a corp gig. They came out already and told me I would need to resign my seniority number.

Longing for the great Chef Pilots who would take those resignation letters and file them in the most appropriate place.
