I’ll give you that most haven’t seen it at UAL, but to suggest they don’t know the ramifications of an industry downturn is disingenuous. There’s a lot of experience in the bottom third of the list that knows the ramifications of givebacks. Unfortunately, just not from the perspective of mainline.
Completely agree. Most of us have only had slight taste of the good times.

I saw the Union email critical about early outs at AA. Sounds like Kirby has them fooled.

has who fooled? I’ve got a gut feeling that UAL ALPA wants the membership to $h&@ all over this proposal.

It's possible that they realize AAs early outs may not go far enough to address the financial 'need' in the future, and in fact may put more of a burden on the active pilots in the future. Kinda like how the initial reductions in the schedule seemed reasonable, but were eventually found to be not nearly enough. Things are changing FAST. The stimulus bill and this LOA give us time to watch and adapt.

No. I am not in.

Spot on. I never saw a ladder pulled up faster than at UALALPA.

Default Bill Me

Can someone elaborate for the new hire types on this new development from the new LOA?

How might these ESRLs work? Reduced hours less than the 50? Example for the smart or seasoned among us?

How might a blank line work?

Plan on being furloughed in Sept. within the bottom 10%. Sucks but oh well. At least we can prepare.

Still glad I got UAL. Hope we survive and thrive. Thanks for any legit replies.

The options are up on flying together. Crew resources/SRL/SRL application. Spells out what they’re offering for May. Not pretty but all voluntary.

See CCS for the details on the 3 ESRL options. But basically 1 month option you get 30 hours paid now and 20 deferred to dec bid period. One huge question on that will be if that 20 hours is add pay or if they will try to use it to offset your pay if you bid a normal line. Another question would be if furloughs happen, will they try to use that against a furlough payment. Too many open ends. They have had plenty of time and this thing appears to be hastily written.

another option is 4 month ESRL with 35 hours paid each bid period and 5 hours per bid period deferred.

blank line means you are a line holder who has nothing on their schedule and 0 hours of pay. You are hoping to pick up something to get some $$.
ive heard of 70+ guys on reserve on a single day, so I’d say your chance of getting a single trip from open time will be extremely small.

just an opinion here but this LOA is a joke. Interest free loan until December and getting paid less than the contract prescribes of a 50 hour SRL. And that interest free loan is at risk if the company declares bankruptcy.

The bid will close at 0700 Central Time on April 4; took me a while to find that info. It's in the bidding instructions.
I'd like to take one of the options but need to have a conversation with the boss.

The instructions don't state that E-SRLs accrue time for your sick bank, 401k, RHA. Anyone have the definitive answer? (I'd prefer someone being able to cite a reference). I'm sure it's written somewhere; just not finding it yet.
I went through the union emails but didn't see any LOA reference for E-SRL. I might have missed it.
