UAL cutting flights in/out of SFO and LAX 35%
Just crossed on CNBC. Reporter said the cuts would take effect this weekend.
Should make commuting even more enjoyable.

My 4 month ESRL is looking better and better.

Sure, there's only 2 direct flights a day, but there's over 90 open seats every flight. I was lucky to get jumpseat sometimes when I was commuting to LAX at the end.
I bet it sucks if you are commuting to reserve to sit at the crash pad for 6 days though. The pads are probably packed with all the reserves not being used.

I would have thought commuters would have jumped all over the SRL’s. I keep hearing things like “X hours pays for a lot of hotels.” I just can’t believe that commuters would rather deal with the pain of commuting, and then spending days upon days in a crash pad or a hotel, and then days working, just for those extra X hours. It seems like an awful lot of pain and wasted time.

Would you have given away 22hrs of vacation pay for an SRL?
There will be over 300 pilots on reserve in my BES in May. Will be hard to get even two SCs. Not that many days at in a crash pad. Plus this from the company, "Due to the schedule reductions, missed trips due to commuting issues will not count as an absence in the Absence Management Policy during this COVID-19 crisis." Might be worth a roll of the dice for the 1-2 SCs I will have in May. Any open trip will get immediately picked up.
