Travel Eligible Deduction?
Just looked at my mid-month pay statement and saw a deduction labeled "Travel Eligible Deduction" for $9.60. Have never seen that before. Anyone have insight on what that is?

It is the service charge and/or tax on a pass used by you or a family member.

Take at look at Service charges, Taxes, and Fees in Flying Together, Travel. It discusses imputed taxes and other fees the employee is potentially responsible for when eligible pass riders travel. Had to read it because it caught me by surprise once before. Take care.

You can download a pass travel report in flying together that will show you who flew when and where and what class of service. Also will show you deadheads, but not charged for those of course.

Thanks for the replies. Still wondering what this is about, though. Family pass travelled last in Oct 2019; I’m a commuter & travel all the time. Have never seen this before. Are they starting to charge something they previously ate?

Did you download the pass travel report like I suggested - it will tell you.

This. And from the charge, it sounds about right for a short domestic segment in F. |

I finally had family members use buddy passes around Christmastime.
In my case, the charges for buddy passes were listed on my pay stub under AFTER-TAX DEDUCTIONS and the charges were labeled Travel Companion Deduction. All charges match my Pass Travel Report. My guess is that since your charges were labeled differently, you were charged for your or immediate family member travel in F. I also checked my buddy passes. None were pulled (this was early Jan travel); I still have 24 buddy passes. Although I don't consider them worth much, especially given the low ticket prices at the moment. One thing I didn't know is that friends traveling on buddy passes are charged for checking luggage. I hadn't given a buddy pass to anyone in a long time. |
