No animosity from this UA cat and I know no pilot who has any at UAL. Good post cheddar for sure.

SK is a wildcard. Look forward to seeing how he plays this shifting hand. I’m also glad you AA bubbas share your thoughts and concerns about the dude.

HA!!.....Closest to a "TRUE" statement made in this thread thus far considering SK's track record while at the tables in Vegas, and being called on it in person.

As far as someone's called/perceived "animosity" from one group to the other......Sounds like a "broad brush" on a very isolated case.....can't say I've heard of anything in the area code.

This entire forum is filled with posts from fanbois claiming 'my airline is less ****ed than your airline'. This thread is no different. I find it completely toolish.

those pilots have been on the payroll since mid March, word on the street is they will use them to fill vacant training slots when someone doesn’t make it to training for various reasons. We have a big displacement/award coming out soon like everyone else that will trigger a ton of training, and they will essential be called in like a pinch-hitter to fill slots. That’s my understanding anyways.

That was my post and you’re right. Point taken.

This addresses some of the possibilities in different philosophies.
I know it’s a blog and the numbers aren’t super precise, but the big picture theories seem plausible.

Thanks for posting the article. One thing I'm curious about wrt United is how much the reduced international flying is impacting the domestic flying. Does anyone know about what percentage of mainline narrowbody pax are connecting to an international flight? Also curious to know the percentage for AA and DA if anyone has that data.

Here’s a recent post on the UAL forum:

If they file BK and keep operating they could very well drag us down with them in BK.

If they shut down entirely it could save the bacon of pretty much everybody else. Their 18% of the the market would go a long way in matching industry capacity to demand.”

This post had multiple “likes”.

Never forget, UAL was the airline that had an ad campaign centered around TORQUE and how “One Less Airline Can Make a Difference”. It wasn’t until years after Continental bought United that the “Screw Continental” pin was removed from a display case at the United training facility.

It is truly disgusting and I apologize for the rest of the United employees. Just as UALALPA considered themselves “brain surgeons” and the Frontier pilots “”general practitioners” and their *cough* ALPA brothers *cough* at Air Wisconsin not even worthy of a preferential interview after United bought Air Wisconsin and dismantled it, the brain surgeons will cheer if American liquidates.
