I know that UAL only had 135 scabs left in August 2007. That's the last time I marked off the retirements in my yellow Millennium Edition scab book. That was about 1.5% of the list back then. 13 years of retirements have surely culled the herd. I can't say how many scabs are left from CAL, but I'd be surprised if we have a > 1% scab population.

Did a quick look a while back. I think about 180 from CAL side left. Very few left from UAL.

Don't forget the Eastern scabs amongst us.

Exactly—some are cleverly hidden, having been at Express One (the 727 operation) prior to CAL.

I know UAL hired about 6 before the full list was outed ... Boyd, Guido ... I knew all the names at one time but forget them now. Some ended up at CAL ... Gwen (changed her last name), Larry and a few others that I knew of. They are in the book. My policy at one time was to check the book before I went to work ... surprised a few times by what I found. SCABs forgiven and wearing pins. Still a SCAB.

No doubt in my mind that a percentage of the 570 would have crossed had ALPA not intervened and held their hands. They were lucky.

A much higher percentage of the 539 were born to be SCABs but were very lucky that the strike ended before they finished training.

Don’t thank us. It was our privilege. Thank the FOs that voted “yes” that may be getting displaced to the street. You never know somebody when times are good because it takes adversity for a person to reveal their true character. I’m proud of this 92% “yes” vote. Management would have preferred a 50% + 1 vote.

I know it’s easy to focus on the few selfish jerks that voted “No.” I know that I looked at that number and shook my head in disbelief.

But we should focus on the fact that this pilot group is made up overwhelmingly of good, caring, and considerate people. I am proud of this pilot group.
