Congrats Delta. It’s a shame your MEC Chairman doesn’t get lifetime positive space first class travel for himself and his family.

Well, so much for that market share grabbing, support the company’s efforts quick rebound scheme. Guess we can rename it to the Pandemic Recovery Market Share Retention LOA.

My sincerest apologies to the 1436

I believe that would be 1/1/2022

As of right now, that date only applies to furlough protection. Probably not a stretch to assume that’s when the LOA will sunset. However, if CARES 2 gets passed, this new LOA is paused and extended if I read the email correctly. That’s why I’m suggesting we need clear language explaining when the LOA will end.

UNA pilots get 30 hrs 717 FO pay. So if this gets voted in could DL put out a bid to force 4000 pilots UNA? Now there is a cost savings. As of right now I don’t see that as being prohibited.
I’ll wait and see but our bullet points state only those who already have a furlough notice can be reduced to 30 hrs on UNA. It’s also worth noting that would not be great for the company. They must displace to UNA and train a replacement ( remember DLs fleet is a lot more complicated that United’s; our 2 most jr fleets each only have 2 bases) all those displaced would not have a seat lock and pilots returning from UNA also do not have a seat lock. We would shut down our training department if we put too many on UNA.

it will probably sunset on the day the furlough protection ends; be that 1/1/2022 or a later date due to CARES 2, we will see soon enough

Ok I’m just not seeing how this is good for Delta. I’m going over it in my head and it just doesn’t make sense.

the United deal keeps everyone current and a good chunk of pilots in their previous seats. We all fly, we all stay current we all attend CQ. If the company adds 7 lines of flying to IAH 320 the day before bids open the pilots are there to absorb that. That makes sense to me.

the Delta deal says we’ll give the UNA pilots 30 hours a month and we’ll let you know when we need you.....that’s a paid furlough!!!! Why would they do that? What benefit does that give DL if their pilots aren’t current?

what am I missing?

a quicker recall that a straight up furlough, as well as TLV relief. Plus the ego thing, Ed gets to say to the non cons that the pilots did cut hours (even if it was only 3) and he gets to go on CNBC and say we did not furlough anyone and tell investors we have all our employees for when a recovery happens. I think after we had so many take the early out the company needed most of us to stay but tried to bargain with as many furloughed as possible, our MEC called their bluff. I’ll admit I did not think they were bluffing but I think I was wrong.

EDIT they might also be able to keep the active pilots flying through the holidays, people in the bottom 500 are still flying the A220 which has a severe training bottleneck, had they furloughed 1941 we would have put 60% of those FOs on the street

Take a breath and wait for the final language. Knowing Delta, they will want to get something for that 30 hours and my guess at this point is it’ll be a recall window of some period of time. That should coincide with a system bid since that’s the only way right now a UNA can exit that “category.”

Neither does ours. I’m no TI fan or cheerleader but at least be mad about factual things.
