You're right, it was even worse than that.

The Delta pilot was on ground freq and asked "can I switch over to tower, I might be able to help, I used to fly the E170"

Ground said sure, then Mainline Delta pipes in on tower with "Did you run the QRH?"

100% unsolicited, unhelpful dbag advice.

NTSB initial indications are that 2 1st stage fan blades separated. Very similar to the last event. The groundings could last a while. Lucky we have a bunch of C models just sitting around waiting to fly.

I don't know if they might be talking a 1 time inspection, then reduced intervals, or something more drastic like reduced time limited parts. More to come. Really too early to tell much.

I did fly an A model the next day before they were grounded.

Maybe what the guy meant was: Did you run the QRH "yet"? So he'd know where in the process he was jumping in?

I might give him *some* BoD since they were struggling with a primary flight control, ATC thought they were in the chimchee, and ATC solicited help on ground freq.

What I find interesting is everyone crucifying the Delta guy asking if they ran the QRH, but their response was no. Maybe not that outrageous of a question after all?

It’s important to get a plane under control before you open a manual.

Maybe.

If you listen to the tape, you can see WHY they hadn't gotten around to it.

The obvious memory item for something like this is turn that crap off... cutout switches, CB's, whatever.

So you’re telling me that if you’re fighting for your life to get control of your plane, you’re going to open up and run the QRH before you get control back? I’m surprised the republic guys even entertained the delta guy with an answer.

Curious to know if passengers evacuated after landing or did they put out the flames. Wondering how it went down after landing

It’s easy, actually. You self report to your EAP, then you go to treatment, then you jump through an astronomical amount of hoops to convince the FAA that you can be trusted. Continue to jump through those hoops for the better part of a decade, then get everything back and more.

Now that I have answered your question, I suppose it’s fair to tell you that I’m not an IV drug user, and never have been. I do happen to have a substantial amount of time working with ALPA and the FAA in this area.....and my statement stands. Nobody is slamming kerosene to get high. If our resident troll provides a source for his tripe, I will gladly eat my words.

Why on earth would I possibly make something up like that? What would I gain from doing so, sir?
