New Vacancy Bid 21-10V
#14
Lets try keep things in perspective here. The fact we are hiring right now is nothing short of a miracle. If you get the guppy in whatever base it may be, please keep in mind that it’s only a short term assignment as you’ll be able to bid up to 756/777/787 in probably a few short months, and also there are thousands of pilots behind you that would be beyond thrilled to take a 737 seat at UA right now. I don’t mean to sound like I’m lecturing, but that comment could rub a lot of people the wrong way given the circumstances.
Maybe we can also chalk this up to a poorly worded question.

It certainly doesn't look like it.
I guess they retire there, and then die there.
pizza, brats, and beer. What else is there?
I was surprised at how senior it is. Too much snow. Too expensive. Too liberal. No offense at all intended. So don't read into it. Just surprised with those three big issues...
I wonder how many commute there - percentages wise?

I had the same thoughts. The attitude that comes across these forums amazes me sometimes. Something akin to someone asking, “Do I have to actually collect my million dollar winnings by (ugh) paper check, or will it be direct deposited for me?”
Maybe we can also chalk this up to a poorly worded question.

But, just to be clear, neither one of you had any desires about what your drop would be?

While I’m not offended by what you said unlike others, there are many advantages to getting your initial bid. The biggest one is you can bid up to something bigger, you can’t bid down to something snaller

Not to say you shouldn’t have your own personal preference for which fleet you want to be on as a new hire. Just a friendly reminder that those are probably some thoughts that shouldn’t be broadcasted. It just kind of comes off like showing up to a jam packed flight on Christmas where you’re number 1 on the list with 2 open seats and 50 non revs below you and voicing your concern in the boarding area that you hope you don’t get a center seat. You’re more than entitled to your own bias, but it might be best to just be thrilled you’re in and you’re gonna have a great time no matter what seat you get.
Don’t mean to bust your balls buddy. Just a friendly reminder that you got a lot of good stuff coming your way and to not sweat an initial class assignment.
