With all the transcons in/out of Tampa...won't we need a base there pretty soon? ;) :D

Orlando is building a new mega terminal with 120 gates and initially at least East/West train access, could happen there…

How would we staff EWR if we opened a MCO base?

I heard that they’re considering a FL base for the A350. Both are destined to be 20 year rumors.

The Boom SST are all going to be based out of Opa Locka, KOPF. So you can fly supersonic at work and get car jacked while driving home.

I don't see MCO hub ever happening. That market is almost all leisure and big league frequent fliers using their miles for free flights to Mouse Land for the kiddos. Neither of those are money makers. All trips there are merely to keep the freq fliers and economy passengers happy with the brand because else they would ride someone else's metal.

I’m guessing you forgot about the 2.2 million people that live in or around MCO. Airlines are making money where ever they fly, as long as the planes are mostly full.

You can fill a plane with cheap seats and still operate at a loss.

Of coarse you can! But I’m guessing a mostly full United plane with some belly freight seldom operates at a loss.

No, I know they are there, but UAL hubs are located in much more dense or heavily business traveled locations, except for Denver, which is more of a central connector hub. Orlando traffic is primarily family tourism, and a lot of those 2.2 million living don't have to work anymore, they just travel to see their grand kids or to get to their summer home.

UAL will still have trips into and out of MCO if only for reward travel. That being said the cost to open a MCO base would be offset by the savings in hotels I bet. I think a FL base will happen shortly after the amendable contract is solidified.

And you’ll receive your $50,000,000.00 in cash from the Nigerian prince you helped set free at that time too! It’s a sure thing....

As soon as we get the DC-10 back on property PANC is a sure bet! But I forgot, there’s no money in cargo.
