If LAX based would a reserve pilot have to cover ONT, LAX, and Orange County in the guppy or bus?
You also have more time to get to the satellite airports when assigned a trip from short-call reserve. You'd have 2:30 to get to LAX for a SC assignment but there is no specified time for the satellites. It just has to be reasonable. |

No. Those three plus BUR. So four.
Super Shuttle was your savior back then. It was like $35.00 for a LAX to SNA but they only ran certain hours. Now days Uber/Lyft would make all of the LAX airports much easier. |

Logic would agree with this, but the reality is pretty irritating. LAX doesn’t allow Lyft and Uber to pick you up at the terminal. You now have to go to a special lot and ATTEMPT to get a ride. Once you submit your request on the ride-share app, nobody will show up unless you sign up for the “high-end” options. You want a $20 Uber for a 15-minute ride? Nope. Your only choice is going to be a $60 Uber Black. Ride-share at LAX is now the same as a taxi, except for the licensing and vetting that goes along with it.

I haven't seen any BUR trips on the 73 in a couple of years. Not sure about the bus.

I sat reserve 2008-2010 in LAX as UAL’s most Jr. 320 Capt. SNA isn’t the end of the world but ONT or BUR are a friggin hike and a pricy one from the LAX area. I remember dropping $100+ one morning on a 0200 short call for a 0600 go. The only option that time of the morning was a taxi. I was sitting in an LAX hotel when the call came in.

I might be remembering something else, but doesn’t UA give you 90$ for having to go to an airport that isn’t the primary airport (LAX) for those types of expenses? I thought I remember getting 90$ extra every time I got an LGA call out.

It’s a zoo there right now. Uber/Lyft prices in the LA area have been outrageous lately because of a lack of drivers. Unemployment is paying more than they make driving so they’ve been sitting at home collecting a paycheck.
I haven't checked on rental car prices but it may be cheaper for an out of town reserve to just do a one way rental than Uber it.

k I'll guess the only equipment we have scheduled to fly in/out of BUR are buses.

The bus takes like 3 minutes. Have you ever taken a ride from the lot, it's fairly organized.
