It could happen.
... on the snapshots.
For those new to watching vacancy bids, I'll caution you to not be sucked into believing that snapshots are anything close to the final award. This one's going to be especially volatile because it's so large a vacancy.
Be very careful about bidding 100% in any category because you could find yourself on reserve for years. And if anyone does happen to get 777 during probation year (I don't see that happening anytime soon) can expect to be on reserve for years even at the current hiring pace.

Probably, as long as you know what you're buying into. This isn't something that I know all of the details since I haven't lived in base in ~20 years.
One issue is currency. One would expect to go to TK for landings if they were on WB reserve for a long time. There are ways to game that, but I haven't looked at that for a long time. To many, this is viewed as a good deal.

Newark isn't my jam, but the guy above chimed in and likes the idea. Keep it within 2.5hrs no traffic time and you'll be in good shape no doubt. Advantage on the WB fleet is it is only EWR, if you are new you'll have to cover LGA too. Who knows what will happen with JFK in the future, but there are 756 flights out of there again.

45 minutes from sfo. 777 reserve. Have not worked since early May. I think I have some 3 or 4 short calls in that time frame, picked up by me to drop me back down the callout list. Now, we have a lot of 777 reserves because of the engine issues, but normally there are a ton of reserves on the WB.

20-A-4 Call-Out Time
20-A-4-a A Reserve in a Short Call window or a Lineholder in a telephone availability window must be able to report for duty (call-out time), including to a Field Standby assignment, no more than two hours and thirty minutes (2:30) after the Company’s initial attempt at contact. Consideration shall be given to heavy traffic, construction, and similar circumstances. When the call-out time is less than three (3) hours, to effectuate an on-time Departure the Pilot may elect to pay for parking closer to the terminal and shall be reimbursed for such expense. Additionally, at Bases with co-terminals, consideration shall be given if the Pilot is given an assignment that reports at an airport that is not the primary airport of the Base.
