unfortunately due to unforeseen family issues, I may be taking a break from flying… so i’ve had to pull my app from the hiring process and cancel my interview. Any idea on when I would be able to apply again? Would it be the 12 months waiting period? Thanks

At the interview they said it’s likely to have a 3 month wait between indoc and fleet training. Is that what people have been seeing?

Anyone care to explain what California sick is? I’m a commuter to LAX and if I’m paying for something I’d like to know what’s available to me. Thanks
|
I had to bump my interview a month due to a family emergency (even though United says no deferrals/changes in their communications). I'd recommend continuing forward with your interview date and email the hiring team and communicate what's going on. If they call you for an interview, it means they want you. But life happens and they can be flexible. Just ask. Worst case is they tell you to reapply but if you pull it yourself, you HAVE to re-apply...

Can anyone share what the current wait looks like for the different airframes for initial training? I assume NB is couple weeks and WBis few months, starting indoc soon and trying to plan ahead.

Finished sim at the end of July and been sitting home waiting for IOE. I was recently told to wait another week for information. I think they are really backlogged.

Car will be a distractor at best and at worst cause you to spend less time with your classmates and training partners. I’ve been through 3 qual courses and never once ever “missed” having a car. Also…don’t split up with your training partner unless they live locally. Having one pilot at the Dtree and the other staying downtown is a bad recipe for prep unless your training partner is a time hardened slam clicker to begin with. Events are 6-8hrs in the building plus van time. Add to that exercise, sleep, studying and the inconvenience of eating and there isn’t much time leftover.

Guam
Does anyone have any input into what life is like on Guam? I used to live in a pretty isolated place and it was a really good time. Do they have reasonable schools there and is there a good mix of people?

Are they still requiring proof of covid vaccine to show up for your interview?

No, you cannot. If your parents have passed, you lose those passes and cannot use them for in-laws or anyone else.

Depends. it seemed like in my class they paired a lot of the military and 135 people with upgrading captains, while most of the 121 regional people were paired together. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

lol if you think the area by TK is anywhere near that bad I have a reverse mortgage and some gold to sell you. It’s a “leave your Rolex in your room and don’t run at night with headphones in” neighborhood at worst.

I considered sleeping in the bathtub. Meanwhile one person out of the 2,000 new hires and 12,000+ Recurrents gets mugged in a parking lot near TK and people act like their car is going to end up on blocks or they’re going to be murdered for their new balances. 😂 |

Over the course of about a year I saw; a bullet going through one of the top floors of the crown from a drive by at the Louisiana Bistro, 3 employee car thefts, scattered shell casings on the sidewalk, and the room over yell “We’ll see how you feel about that when I get my gun” after an argument.

I brought my family to training, along with my car, never felt stressed about training and we spent plenty of time exploring Denver |
Back when I went to ATL for 135 training at that FSI there I never had an ounce of knowledge of how dangerous that area was. We stayed at the Drury there and would go to that Waffle House and the Irish pub behind it (great pork chops) all the time. After switching to 121 and learning more about it I don't miss it at all.
