Somewhat similar question but how easy is it to group your trips or reserve days to create a larger time off and reduce commuting? Thanks in advance.

On reserve, you can’t do more than 6 days in a row due the 30/168 117 rule. In theory, you could do all of your trips in row, but probably not until you get enough seniority to have a broader selection of trips. As a NH lineholder, you are basically dealing with the leftovers, forcing PBS into one workblock at that point would probably fail in the actual run.

One workblock might be much for many people. I usually do two or three. After 6 or 8 days in a row, I’m usually pretty spent, but it does afford less commuting and longer time at home.

and you have to have 2 days off between reserve blocks, except for the first one of the month.

GC67 - thanks for the clarification. It seems fully clear to me now. That means I prolly have 50% wrong, but that's OK - I have a grasp.

Hopefully I get the invite, and can be NB reserve in EWR for a minimal amount of time - given the crazy hiring.

Thanks all

If you live 20 minutes from EWR, and min time away from home is the goal, bid the 777/787 and enjoy reserve life. I haven’t shaved since Christmas. You will get used frequently on NB reserve, granted you can get a line extremely quickly too. There’s really no bad options when you live that close to a junior base. Good luck.

This is only the case for Short Call reserve FYI. there is no FAR 117 limitation preventing 18 LSR in a row
