Shipping a vehicle?

Hi all,

I have a base transfer coming up and have been trying to find information on shipping a vehicle. I’ve read the contract section, I’ve read through the guides, I’ve reached out to the Mentor program, I’ve called the PSC, but I haven’t been able to find any information on how to actually ship a vehicle. I understand that I can ship a vehicle, I just don’t the how? Does anyone have any knowledge or experience on the process of shipping a vehicle?

Hey, I’m shipping a vehicle as part of a paid move tomorrow. It was a little more seamless for me since it was all part of the paid move, but if it helps point you in the right direction, the company that is doing it is called ReloTrans.

I have used DAS Auto Shippers. I have been pleased with them. They walked me through everything. Like they do this for people every day.

I’ve used them as well—full cross country. Very happy with their service.

But do we just pick a company and then expense it? Like that is where I’m confused. I can’t find any details about how do we go about getting the costs covered

99% sure you expense it but not through the normal expense process. Company uses a moving coordinator with their own app. They will set you up with an account after you declare a move. You upload your expenses via the app and then you get reimbursement checks from the company. Crappy thing so far is that the moving expense is a taxable benefit.

I can’t speak to how that works with a base transfer, but for a paid move it is handled by a relocation coordinator. I do not think you coordinate and expense it yourself.

Here’s what I think you need to do. Get on Help Hub and look up the “Paid Move / Travel Days / Transfer Days – Request Form.” Under type of request, select “Paid Move.” Under Move Type, select “Commuter Car Only.”

Hey thanks a lot! This is the first I’ve seen or heard to do it that way, I’ve only so far seen to submit the “transfer days” request. I’ll update when I hear back
